SIEM REAP: BANTEAY SREI – TA PROHM – ANGKOR THOM (B)

Grab an early start to visit some of the prominent temples in the Angkor Archaeological Complex. This is best done by tuk-tuk to take in the surrounding scenery up close and navigate the narrow dirt roads. Start with Ta Prohm. Unlike the other temples it remains as it was when it was discovered, with trees growing out of it and surrounded by jungle. Plenty of photo opportunities here. Move on to Preah Khan a 12th century temple that has also been left unrestored. After breakfast continue on to Angkor Thom the last capital of the Khmer empire. Covering 9 sq. km prominent antiquities here include the 12th century Bayon Temple with serene faces decorating its towers, the Elephant Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King. In the afternoon drive out to Banteay Srei Temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. Built in red sandstone it is covered in intricate carvings. Return to hotel.

Day 5
SIEM REAP

SIEM REAP: KHMER VILLAGE – BENG MEALEA (B, L)
